Died of his injuries in Hospital, 5 days after being shot by a sniper while on mobile patrol in the Ballymurphy Area of West Belfast
on the 4th July 1974.

While the above young soldiers were enjoying a night off at the local disco which was being held at the 
Dropin Well Public House, Ballykelly County Londonderry on the 6th December 1982 just before Christmas, 
a time bomb which had been planted by INLA exploded in the confined space of the Disco, Killing 11 soldiers 
and 6 civilians, 8 of whom were serving in the 1st Battalion the Cheshire Regiment. 
INLA planted the bomb knowing it would also kill civilians protestant and Catholic
