Pte Gary Barlow Aged 19.
(From Noel a soldier serving with Pte Gary Barlow) .... I knew
Gary reasonably well. He was left behind following a cordon and search Op in the Albert Street area. He was surrounded by a mob and savagely beat this frightened young lad having grabbed his SLT from him. He was then summarily executed by an IRA Gunman who had been summoned by the mob. Gary was had just turned 18 and this was virtually his first patrol. He was based in Albert St Mill. I commanded a Saracen Ambulance Crash Team based at Albert St Mill at the time; it was a very unsavoury and disturbing incident to attend to.
Killed West Belfast on the 04.03.1973.
